They didn't start with a picture-perfect marriage. They built one — and that's what makes them worth listening to.
Darin and Duana didn't come from the same background. Darin grew up in a home where marriage was modeled well, and family was built on purpose. Duana grew up in something entirely different: a home marked by dysfunction and the kind of pain that quietly shapes a child's understanding of what love is even supposed to look like.
When they got married, they didn't just bring two people together. They brought two completely different sets of expectations, dreams, and hopes into the same house — and had to figure out what to build from there.
What they built over the next three-plus decades became the foundation of everything they now teach. They are the parents of Carson and his wife Emily, Ashton and her husband Hunter, and their youngest daughter Averie. The recent arrival of grandson Westley added a new dimension to what they already believed: the ceiling you build becomes the floor your children stand on.
Darin was born with one hand. It's not the most important thing about him, but it is part of his story. He has spent a lifetime refusing to let what he was given define what he could do. That perspective runs through everything they teach: a belief that God doesn't wait for ideal circumstances before He begins building something extraordinary. He starts with what you have.
Together, they've spoken to couples and families across the nation and around the world — in churches, conferences, family weekends, and leadership gatherings. That belief has become her message. Over more than three decades, she has built a marriage and a family that look nothing like what she inherited — and she brings to her teaching the authority of someone who has actually done the hard thing.
